Theater Camp

I am attending Theater Camp this year! I'm so excited! I have been wanting to do it for the past 2 years and this year I can!

It started on Tuesday June 1st. At the end we will be doing 3 shows June 25th, 26th and 27th.

We have Voice, Dance, and Acting lessons each day.

This year we are doing Shakespeare Vignettes. Meaning we are taking parts from 6 of Shakespeare's plays. We will be doing "Romeo and Juliet", "Hail Caeser", "Macbeth", "Hamlet", "The Tempest", and "A Mid Summer Nights Dream".

We are taking them and doing some original Shakespeare and then adding a little modernization to them. For example...

"Romeo and Juliet" starts out the show. We start out with a precession and have a court room dance. Then Romeo spys the fair Juliet and there is a song. Then a fight and then the Princess (it was a prince but we had to change it because we have more girls than guys) breaks it up and tells them if they fight again it shall be on pain of death. So then (this is where it goes modern) Lady Capulet and Lady Montague start a Dance Off.

"Hail Caeser" Is all modernized and comedic. Flavius Maximus is a "Privet Roman Eye".

I do not want to give it all away. But I wanted to give you a feeling for the fun it is to be doing it.

Yesterday we got our parts for the first act. Those of us that did not get a big part (or a part at all) in the first act we will get bigger parts in the second act.

I am to be The Secretary in "Hail Ceaser" (I have 1 line). And Juliet in, well, you know. (I have no lines for her part, in Chris's words "You just have to sit there and look gorgeous!")

I'm so excited for it and I have have been having loads of fun in just these four days. I hope you can come see the show!
