So here's my shot at the 2nd assignment. Tell me what you think :D
“Ouch! Maylee, why did you put that on my seat?!”
“I didn’t put... that… on…. Wow!” Maylee stared at Joshes hand as he held up what he had sat upon. “Josh put your hand down.”
“Do you think it’s real?” he asked holding it lower.
“How am I supposed to know? I’ve never see one this close before.”
“What do I do with it?”
“Put it in your back pack, and quickly before anyone sees it. You know what they would do if this got out don’t you!”
“Yes. But Maylee what if it falls or the sun caches it and it sparkles as it… is… doing… now…” Josh exclaimed as he held it in the sun. The sun caught it creating 13 shining rays shutting to the top of the bus.
“Well don’t let it. And put your hand down! Well take it to the police as soon as school gets out. Now put in it there. Hurry we’re stopping!”
Josh shoved it in his back pack as the bus pulled up to their school. As he and Maylee ran out of the bus he quickly examined the seat as he left making sure there were not any more they we’re leaving behind.
*****
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Five. Four. Tree. Two. One. RRRIIINNNGGG!!!!
“Maylee!”
“Come on.”
“But we’ll miss the bus.”
“Josh, what is more important? The bus or that?” Maylee asked nodding to Joshes back pack. “Besides we could use the exercise”
“What do you mean be that? ‘We could use the exercise.’ We have PE every day.”
“Oh never mind just hurry up.”

“Where did you get this?” Sergeant Kilk asked.
“On our school bus, sir.” Maylee answered, she was the people person in the group, which included Josh and herself.
“And when was that?”
“Just this morning.”
“This morning on the bus huh. Was there anything different that you noticed?”
Maylee looked at Josh; for once she did not have an answer. “I did sir. The bus was new.”
“What do you mean by that young man?”
“Well today is Monday. On Friday our bus broke down and there was nothing the mechanic could do about it so the school was going to have to get a new one.”
“And how do you know this?”
“My father is in charge of buying supplies for the school. Busses included.”
“I see. And how old are you two?”
“12, sir.” Josh replied.
“And you?” The sergeant asked pointing to Maylee.
“I’m almost 13, sir.”
“Thank you. Well it’s not often we have people your age, or any people at all, finding something this valuable on a bus.”
“So it is real sir?”
“Yes Maylee, it’s real.” He answered. Maylee gasped staring at the shining thing on the sergeant’s desk. “I thank you for bringing it here. We shall put out a notice about it but if the owner doesn’t pick it up within a matter of time than it’s yours. I have you information if we get any news. Again thank you. Have a nice day.” So saying he dismissed them.
“Wow. Can you believe it Maylee!? It could be ours!”
“I can’t believe it. But don’t get your hopes up.”
“OK but think about it! Josh and Maylee. Proud owners of a 13 diamond necklace!”

Very cool. You should continue writing this one too, but after you finish the other one. =) because I'm really excited about that one.
ok, I'm actually dying to know what happens next!!

This was good. But I think I liked the first one more.
I do agree with what Kate said.
